Any guesses?
FFF Photo a Day - Day 218
This week the garden gave up the first taste of these curious gems.... While they are becoming more popular, I find many people who have never tried them!
Who knows what they are?

Look what I found!!
FFF Photo a day - Day 203
What a difference a day makes! I was in the tomatoes yesterday and didn't see anything.... but look what I found tonight! (insert squeal)
There is nothing in my opinion better on earth than the first taste of a sun ripen tomato fresh from the garden each summer! Nothing...

A full day...
Today was a full day of weeding, staking tomatoes, moving the vines of pumpkins & squash back into their rows, fixing brassica covers, re-seeding spinach, and generally fixing things up after a week of frequent rains that have kept us out of the field.
Got a lot accomplished but also enjoyed the many beautiful sights along the way. Such as the onion blossoms!

Garden of surprises!
FFF Photo a Day - Day 187
Went for a meander up and down the rows in the garden today to see how things were faring given the heavy rain and light hail we got on Saturday night.
I was pleased to find that the water seemed to be quickly being absorbed and most of the veggies were looking really good.
Found a few surprises as well... like this pumpkin... already a good size for the beginning of July!

My Weeding Buddy...
It is not unusual for me to see a frog or two when I'm in the garden... and typically they hop away to safety.
Today however, I found that I had a weeding buddy. This little guy not only didn't hop away but indeed appeared to be following me down the rows!
Now if only I could teach him to pull weeds!

Sweet Pea!
Peas are growing tall and today I found the first flower!
That means that soon we will be enjoying fresh garden peas.

Ladybird, ladybird, fly away home....
FFF Photo a Day - Day 164
Always happy to see ladybugs in our gardens! They eat aphids and other pests that we don't want in the garden.
Found this little guy this morning on our violas....

After the rains...
FFF Photo a Day - Day 145
The gardens are happy after the big rains last weekend. Snapped this pic tonight in the front herb garden....

You are never lonely in the garden...
FFF Photo a Day - Day 144
You are rarely lonely when you are in the garden.... Caleb the cat always comes and joins you.
How you might ask did we end up with a female barn cat named after our son.... because of course that is what he insisted on calling her when he was two years old!
Fourteen years later, Caleb (the cat) has used up most of her nine lives and is one of the oldest barn cats I know.
...And she's the perfect companion as you seed and weed.

Spot the dog...
FFF Photo a Day - Day 71
Can you spot the dog? I caught Avery sprawled in one of our front garden beds tonight. I assume the soil is warm from the sun and affords a soft cozy place to relax.
I almost walked by her as she is well camouflaged.

Seedy sweet-talk
Today was spent doing inventory of saved and leftover seeds and pouring over seed catalogues. After much debate surrounding what we will grow this year, we managed to come up with a complete list of varieties and quantities and finished our seed orders! Whew!
Looking forward to trying a few new things such as collards, Armenian cucumber and Honeynut Squash. Of course we have way too many varieties of tomatoes (if that's possible) and are also trying a few some yellow and red carrot varieties.
