Farmer Friday Game Night Fun!

FFF Photo a Day - Day 332

Even when we take a night off to play some board games... they still involve farm animals!?

Who needs a trampoline!

FFF Photo a Day - Day 148

In one of our corrals we have a old chicken tractor that has seen better days.

It has been leaning up against the barn for a few years and other goats have climbed in and over it.... however, Sancho took it to a whole new level today!!

He used it as a trampoline! (Until we ruined his fun and took it apart)

Note: While you can see a photo here... the full video action in on our Facebook page (for some reason I can't seem to upload it here!) Once you are there.... Like our page to keep up with the happenings around the farm!

Peek-a-boo!

FFF Photo- Day  - Day 110

Sancho is a month old La Mancha buckling (male baby goat).

He is big for his age and loves to play peek-a-boo with the camera.

No fooling, its April!

FFF Photo a Day - Day 91

It's April 1st and I've seen a wonderful variety of April Fool's jokes today.

One that I unwittingly participated in involved a Kijiji ad for a free goat (who can resist a free goat!) so... of course, I along with many others contacted the poor soul who knew nothing about a free goat!

Besides good fun, April has also brought the emergence of the first hardy plants. Here our chives are pushing up in our front garden. So wonderful to see the beginning of green in the garden!

Food, farmers and fun

FFF Photo a Day - Day 73

Today I made a batch of yummy pork kabobs for tonight's Small Farms Manitoba Potluck.

Always enjoy a chance to connect with others with similar dreams over good food.

Tonight we were talking about what we do when we need help on the farm. Hired help or interns - whether you need one or want to be one check out the job board on the small farms Manitoba website

Big thanks to Bruce and Marilyn from Almost Urban for hosting!

A day of discovery...

FFF Photo a Day - Day 31

Today we took nineteen kids on a day of discovery. Thanks to a grant from FCC we were able to take all the kids in our 4H club to the Food and Farm Research Centre just south of Winnipeg.

Many of the kids live in towns and have not given much thought to where their food comes from. They were able to explore how pigs and dairy cows are raised, ground their own flour to make bread and explored the eggs-citing world of chickens!
