Quiet moments of healing!

We've all heard the saying... time heals all wounds? Tonight I might suggest that farms heal all wounds! A couple of days ago I was involved in a car accident. The stress both mental and physical of the event had been having a pretty significant impact on my body and outlook on life. I was frustrated that this had occurred, upset that I was unable to do my portion of the farm chores and of course, nearly every muscle in my body was tense and sore.

After three days in bed, I wasn't feeling much better... tonight I went outside to the barn. I needed to check on one of our newborn goats and while I wasn't going to be able to do many of the nighttime chores I thought would mosey around and see how things were going.

I took pictures, cuddled the goats, helped a couple of turkeys get on the right side of the fence, gave the cattle some treats and let them lick my hand up to the elbow! I walked through the vegetable field, checking out any frost damage, which plants were coming up and watched the new chickens gleefully scratch in the dirt.

As I headed back towards the house, I stopped short when I realized that for almost a whole hour... I hadn't noticed my strains and bruises and was fully and completely engrossed in the teaming life of the farm instead of the stress of the accident. I felt really good!

So while the pain is still here and likely I can't grow myself a new car here on the farm.... I know that the next time I feel like things are getting too much... I'm going to remember that I have the best remedy just outside my back door!
