Chilly greetings...

FFF Photo a Day - Day 291

This morning greeted me with a somewhat shocking -8C temperature and frozen water lines in the chicken tractors.... (can you hear Farmer Phil giggling in Quebec?)

Fortunately, I was still able to see the beauty of the frosty morning. The whole yard looked like it had been brushed by a giant paintbrush of ice and diamonds!

Rescue mission

FFF Photo a Day - Day 281

With frost a more regular occurrence we rescued our rosemary plants and brought them inside for winter. They smell so good!

Time to dry!

FFF Photo a Day - Day 162

As the weather continues warm up and temperatures are consistently staying at a reasonable temperature, we have taken our Kozy Koats off our tomatoes and have hung the to dry.

Kozy Koats are a plastic covering that is filled with water that surrounds the tomatoes. This insulates the tomatoes and creates a mini greenhouse effect. We find that this method speeds growth and of course, protects the plant during frost, thus allowing you to put out the plants earlier in the year.

Knock on wood!

FFF Photo a Day - Day 151

Today was the day we put out all our transplants. We are reasonably sure that the last frost has passed (fingers crossed, knock on wood)!

Wish for gentle rains and light winds interspersed with sunny skies!

Winter's paint brush

FFF Photo a Day - Day 27

This morning we woke up to pure loveliness!

It was like winter had painted each individual surface with crystallized paint!

As I went around to take some pictures I was spellbound at how beautiful it all was!

Enjoy!
